ACTIVITIES
Begun in 1994, "Ancestral Goa", was a concept visualised by an artist's perception of life as it existed in Goa before modernisation began to be felt. The ideology promoted the artistic avenue that is inherent in all individuals and honed to perfection in some. A company, Sefaa Venture, was then floated to comprehensively comprise the various aspects of the numerous faceted mammoth project.

Details and all the frontal aspects of ideas were explored and from there emerged, what is now an annual feature. Every year the workshop aspires towards new recreative outlets that explore and enhance the minds of young children.

The entire day is involved in the learning and grasping of different skills in craft, clay modelling, pottery, basket weaving, rangoli - (goan arts and skills that are slowly dying out) and even lighter pursuits of puppetry and vegetable carving. The evenings are spent in cultural entertainment and the enhancement of each learnt art.

A completely free of cost programme, the workshop has attracted a number of sponsors like Pepsi, Coca Cola, Aptech, Borkar Super Stores, Hallmark, Travasso Gallery, Costa's and many others. The workshop attracts a total of 250 - 400 children and the number grows every year and a like number of adults.

An artists' camp also makes its foray in early August. This is usually a three- day camp where artists gather to create and a final day of reckoning in the form of an exhibition is put up. Here again, sponsors from the paper and colour industry have come forward, on request.

The middle of August is witness to an Inter- School Competition of the 'On-the-spot-Drawing' where over 50 schools from Goa participate. Companies like Nestle & Cadburys have made significant contributions towards the programme.
